What is digital radiology for pets?
Digital radiology is an advanced imaging technique that uses digital X-rays to create clear images of your pet’s bones and organs, helping veterinarians diagnose health concerns quickly and accurately.
Why would my pet need digital radiology?
Radiology is used to evaluate injuries, illnesses, and internal conditions that can’t be seen during a physical exam, such as fractures, arthritis, organ abnormalities, foreign objects, or other internal diseases.
Does my pet need sedation for X-rays?
Some pets may require sedation to remain still for clear imaging, especially if they are in pain or anxious. Because X-rays require precise positioning and complete stillness, sedation may also be recommended to ensure your pet’s safety and comfort and to reduce the need for physical restraint during the procedure. Our veterinarians will discuss this with you beforehand if sedation is advised.
Can digital radiology detect foreign objects?

Yes. Digital radiology is commonly used to detect swallowed objects, certain bladder stones, and other foreign materials that may require medical or surgical treatment.

However, detection depends on the radio-opacity of the object. Materials such as metal or hard plastic are typically easier to identify on X-rays, while fabric, rubber, or other soft materials may be more difficult to see. In some cases, additional imaging or diagnostics may be needed to confirm the diagnosis.

Will I receive the results of my pet’s X-rays?
